If you would like to find out your size from the comfort of your home, you need to gather a few general household items, including:

💎 A sheet of clean, crisp paper

💎 A pair of scissors

💎 A millimeter ruler or tape measure

💎 A pen or pencil

PRO TIP: Only use clean paper, rather than a ribbon or string. Paper won’t stretch, but a ribbon or a string may and this can result in a wrong measurement.

💎 Cut the paper into a ribbon about 1.5cm in width

💎 Wrap the ribbon of paper around the base of the finger you want to measure.

💎 Hold the paper end in place and check it slips back over your knuckle.

💎 Use a pen to mark where the paper ribbon meets itself.

💎 Remove the paper from your finger and smooth it out along a millimetre ruler.

💎 Take the ruler measurement and check it on the Measurement Chart in the next tab to find your ring size.

Already have a ring that fits perfectly?

Use the same method above, but wrap the paper ribbon on the inside of your ring instead.

The genuine lab-grown alternative to Mined Diamonds

The genuine lab-grown alternative to Mined Diamonds

Our Diamond Simulants possess the very finest grades of colour and clarity, and are cut to the most exacting proportions demanded by the diamond industry. This ensures they display maximum levels of fire, brilliance and sparkle.

Our stones are a more sustainable choice and we are proud to be able to offer you the freedom to choose a more responsible alternative.

What is Moissanite?

What is Moissanite?

Diamond Simulants are a genuine lab-grown alternative to mined diamonds and do not share the same chemical structure, nor are they synthetic diamonds made from a carbon base.

Natural moissanite is incredibly rare, so moissanite available today is laboratory-created. After many years of trial and error, the particles French scientist named Henri Moissan discovered in a crater created by a meteorite that fell to Earth were successfully synthesized to produce what is now one of the world’s most scintillating gemstones.

Moissanite, referred to as a diamond simulant, is engineered to give the illusion of similarity to diamonds, but is compositionally and visually quite different from a real diamond. The durability, brilliance, and color of the two gems are quite distinct.

Diamond vs. Moissanite: Price

Diamond vs. Moissanite: Price

For the same size from the top view, moissanites are dramatically lower in pricing than diamonds of that size.

Moissanite gems typically vary in price only based on size and whether the stone is Premium or Super Premium.

Natural diamonds and lab created diamond prices vary based on shape, carat, cut, color, and clarity. Lab created diamonds are more affordable than natural diamonds.

Overall, moissanite is a fraction of the cost of a diamond per carat as they grow in size.

Overall, moissanite is a fraction of the cost of a diamond per carat as they grow in size.

Also, while a diamond’s price varies based on cut, clarity, and other individual characteristics, moissanite varies only with type and size. Below is a table comparing our pricing for a GIA-certified round diamond (with I-color and VS2 clarity), a classic moissanite stone (not colorless), a near-colorless moissanite stone, and Forever One colorless moissanite stone.

Although the prices differ, the lasting value and actual beauty of a moissanite vs. diamond is incomparable.

Note: Moissanite weighs approximately 15% less than diamonds. Therefore, an accurate comparison of price is not possible. Instead of using Carat weight, moissanites are priced on their size in millimeters.

Is moissanite as good as a diamond?

Is moissanite as good as a diamond?

Moissanite is one of the toughest known gemstones which makes it perfect for an engagement ring, a piece of jewelry that is usually worn every day. Studies in high pressure research have shown that moissanite stone is highly resistant to breaking and chipping.

Moissanite will not lose its sparkle as time passes. The clarity and color of the stone won’t change through the years. Dirt and grime are the only common elements that may inhibit a ring’s sparkle until it is cleaned. Damaging the surface of moissanite can inhibit sparkle, as it would for any gemstone.

Moissanite is the only gemstone that passes as a diamond on a handheld point test. If you want a stone that resembles a diamond without a high price, moissanite is a great option. At the end of the day, preference comes down to personal taste.

Can you tell a moissanite from a diamond?

Can you tell a moissanite from a diamond?

The most effective way to tell moissanite apart from a diamond is to use a loupe to look through the top, or the crown, of the jewel at an angle. You will see two slightly blurred lines that indicates a double refraction, an inherent quality of moissanite. Double refraction is easier to see in some shapes than others.

Color & brilliance

Color & brilliance

Color is the natural color or lack of color visible within a gemstone.

While moissanites are labeled as “colorless”, the gems can still project a yellow or grayish hue in certain lights. Here again, the larger the moissanite, the more noticeable the color.A colorless diamond, whether natural or lab created, has a natural body color that contains no traces of yellow, brown, or grey, resulting in a dazzling, bright white appearance.

Brilliance refers to the appearance of light reflected from the interior of the gem.

Moissanites exhibit a different kind of brilliance than diamonds do, as their faceting pattern is different. The fiery, rainbow flashes emitted by moissanites are beloved by some, but others feel that moissanite’s heightened brilliance can create a “disco ball” effect, especially in sunlight. The bigger the moissanite, the more likely it is that the difference will be noticeable. Moissanite has a refractive index from 2.65 – 2.69, which is higher than a natural diamond.

A different type of brilliance is what makes it possible to distinguish a moissanite from a diamond. Diamonds reflect light in three different ways. The white light reflected back is referred to as brilliance, while the rainbow of colors refracted through the diamond is referred to as dispersion. The surface sparkle of a diamond, known as scintillation, is a third type of diamond light return. The combination of these three gives diamonds their famous sparkle.

Durability

Durability

Gemstones are measured on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, which assesses a gem’s ability to withstand surface scratching.

On the Mohs scale, Moissanite gemstones are a 9.25 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, so they are suitable for daily wear and designed to last.

Diamonds are the hardest known mineral and receive a 10 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. Because of this exceptional score, diamonds are very durable and ideal for daily wear. This contributes to their popularity as engagement rings’ center gemstones.
